Directions to the Symposium

Informed Decisions: Making a Personal and Professional Commitment to Yourself

We welcome all active duty, reservists, officers, enlisted, and midshipmen to attend our annual symposium! Presentations will include:

* Representative from the Congressional Caucus for Womens Issues, Military and Veterans Subcommittee

* BUMED Nutritionist

* Misti Burmeister: "Professional Communication: From Boomers to Bloggers"

* Navy and Coast Guard Panel: "Women Leaders of the Fleet"

* Cali Yost: "It’s Fit, Not Balance: Strategies to Transform Your Work+Life"

              (As seen on Working Mother Media, Fox News, National Public  Radio, and the Washington Post) 

Registration Information

Step 1: Conference Fee

Due to a generous sponsorship, the conference fee for Navy Active Duty and Reservists is lowered to $50.00. All other guests are required to pay a conference fee of $140.00. Payments should be made via our free PayPal link below. This fee covers the cost of the center, audio visual equipment, and on-site meals noted below.   

      Day Guests: Includes AM Break, Lunch, and PM Break

      Night Guests: Includes AM/PM Break, Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Service Branch

Step 2: Facility Registration  

All attendees (Day and Night Guests) must register at the National Conference Center. The last day register online is 18 June 2008. The National Conference Center is located 12 miles from Dulles International Airport and 45 minutes from Washington DC.

Day Guests: You will not be charged during this registration process- the booking is for logistics and on-site security purposes only. Instructions are provided at the National Conference Center website and will reflect a charge of $0.00.

Night Guests: Rooms are available at the National Conference Center at the government rate of $141.00. 

A shuttle from Dulles International Airport to the National Conference Center is available for all guests, provided they register through the National Conference Center. All meetings are on-site and a rental car is not required.

Commands are strongly encouraged to fund travel, lodging, and per diem for this event. Please reference the  Women's Leadership Symposium NAVADMIN for additional information.  

* Note: Uniform will be summer whites for E-1 to E-6 and khakis for E-7 to Officer. 

Co-sponsored by the Sea Services Leadership Association, Coast Guard Women's Leadership Association, and the Navy Office of Women's Policy.  

Service members of all ranks and services are invited to attend the Symposium.  Other interested people (e.g. retirees, members of the press, etc.) also welcomed.  Uniform is the following:

Navy: Summer Whites/Khakis for Navy,

Coast Guard: Tropical Blue Long with garrison covers 

Marines:  Service "C"

Army:  Army Greens

Air Force:  Service Uniform

Civilians:  Appropriate Office Attire
