2001 Coast Guard Award Winners
We are proud to announce that LT Octavia Poole of USCGC Alex Haley (above left) has been selected as this year’s Dorothy Stratton Leadership Award winner, and MSTC Vikki Fogt of the USCG International Ice Patrol (above right) has been selected as the MCPO Pearl Faurie Leadership Award winner. MCPO Faurie made a special appearance for this event (she is the lady in the multi-colored dress in both photos). Also on hand to help give the awardss were RADM Fred Ames, USCG and GGEN Evelyn Foote, USA (ret.). The awards were presented at Fort McNair on 2 August 01 during the WOPA 14TH Annual Symposium Luncheon.
LT Poole and MSTC Fogt are the first Coast Guard members to receive this newly established WOPA award. It was extremely difficult to select only one nominee from each slate of leaders who were nominated for these awards. Each nominee is a stellar example of exceptional leadership and mentorship qualities, embodying the Coast Guard’s core values of honor, respect and devotion to duty. Honorable mention goes to the following nominees for the CAPT Stratton Award:
