Title: 2013 Women on the Water Conference

Date: 31 October - 2 November
Location: SUNY Maritime Academy, Bronx, NY

On October 31 – November 2, 2013, the Maritime Administration and the State University of New York Maritime College will host the sixth annual Women on the Water (WOW) Conference in Bronx, New York.

This annual conference will bring together cadets from the Federal and State Merchant Marine Academies and Colleges with professional mariners who are leaders in different sectors of the maritime industry. The event will be an excellent opportunity for cadets to learn about the exciting careers that are open to them directly from successful women as well as to hear about current issues affecting the maritime industry. This opportunity is also ideal for cadets and professionals alike to meet and network with others in the maritime industry.

The midshipman in charge of the NROTC Aviation Club would like to hold a “Female Naval Aviators” mentoring session next Wednesday, 16 Oct at 1800 in the NROTC unit wardroom (2035 F St NW on GW’s Foggy Bottom campus). The plan is to order pizza and hold an informal discussion about service selection, flight school, fleet squadrons and the general aviation community from a woman/minority perspective. WHO: Active Duty Coast Guard and Government Service Women and Men of Kodiak
WHY: To meet, socialize and develop a network for participants. To ensure that our community here in Kodiak has an environment where members have an outlet to discuss a variety of issues and create an atmosphere which fosters positive networking for women of all ranks.
