The Sea Service Leadership Association is proud to announce that this year’s 31st Annual Joint Women’s Leadership Symposium will be held on June 21-22 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA.

This year’s theme is “The Power Within You”.

6:00-6:30 VEToga (YOGA CLASS)

**VEToga is a Yoga, Meditation and Healing Arts Organization that provides classes to military members, veterans, and their families to help deal with stress.

USAA Financial Breakout 
USAA will address specific issues active duty/reservists have in retirement planning, moving, loans, taxes, etc.

Leadership & Retention for GS Employees
According to the US Office of Personnel Management, leadership development, succession planning, leadership, and employee development within the federal government is at a severe crossroad. The federal government faces a crisis in human capital due to retirement of a large percentage of employees, conflicts in values between employees of different generational groups, and lack of strategic planning for acquiring and retaining qualified employees. This breakout will focus on leadership and retention for government employees.

Mentor More Effectively 
More professionals these days are actively pursuing mentors to advance their careers, and whether you’re on the giving or receiving end, these types of partnerships can benefit your career. Take the next steps in your career, learn how to mentor and find the right mentor in this session.

Handling High Pressure Environments 
The ability to cope with pressure and stress is essential in almost all walks of life, whether you’re working checkout at the supermarket or the commander of a company. Pressure and stress are unavoidable aspects of the world we live in. This breakout will focus on helping you deal with stress in different environments.

An Unconventional Path: Career Development and Leadership Panel
A panel of women who took an unconventional path in their military career; enlisted to officer, moved into the reserved, switch MOS, etc.

How to Capitalize on all Team Members Strengths
A team member who is learning may be so absorbed in the process of addressing weaknesses associated with a general learning curve, that she is unaware of her own strengths. Through effort and attention, experienced team members can help new members find and capitalize on strengths and use them as a foundation for learning. You may find that identifying strengths in others is your own most valuable strength.

Diversity in Two Uniforms 
Diverse, inclusive workplaces are more productive, efficient and happier. As both an executive in the IT industry and as a senior officer in the Navy, Diane Boettcher (Captain, USNR) has experienced a variety of diversity and inclusion efforts over the years. She will lead a discussion covering the why, how and what of diversity and inclusion in both industry and in government organizations. She brings energy, humor and insight into this often difficult conversation.

Upgrade Your Network
This breakout session will discuss how professional networking profiles, like LinkedIn, that can further benefit your military career and to help you prepare for transitions.

Unleash the Power of Goal Setting
The brain is a goal-seeking organism. Whatever goal you give to your subconscious mind, the brain will actually start looking for information, for resources, and for opportunities and other ways to achieve the “want” you have identified. Learn how to develop goals and go after them.

Education Opportunities 
This breakout will provide a panel of personal from college, universities, and someone who understands G.I. Benefits who will talk about funding, the value of education, and the opportunities available while on active/reserve duty.
